Our Origin Story and Experiences

Every origin story is unique to each person’s upbringing. What they have in common is how we can use our experiences to develop who we are as a person for the rest of our lives. Our life is our hero’s journey, the growth, and experiences that make us who we are.

My origin story and hero’s journey are built on 2 immigrant parents. My story and journey include my background, ethnicity, experiences, and more. All of this plays a large part in who I am now and forever. 

Not everyone shares a similar story. For some, origin stories are associated with negative events and experiences. These include losing a loved one, a physical ailment, or emotional turmoil. An origin story can be about anything in your life that has irrevocably shaped you forever, as it has been for every superhero’s story.

How and Why They Shape Us

Origin stories shape who we are, and they are often the things in our life that keep us together. One of the things that has shaped me forever is being raised by two immigrant parents. This has taught me different values and priorities as well as influenced my attitude. Their values have given me the confidence to take risks, embrace challenges, and never be defined by my background and circumstances.

No matter what your origin story is, there are paths to success, courage, and self-discovery. You just have to find the courage within yourself to tell your story and share it with others. Finding your origin story can be a hard task but it is worth it. Once you can accept where you have come from, and you’re able to learn from it, it will help move you forward to the next step in your journey.

People should not let their origin story define who they are now but instead, use it to understand and appreciate who they have become over time.
